About WRT Studio
WRT Studio is a practical guide to OpenWrt and home networking, written for people who want their router to do more than the stock firmware allows.
What it covers
The tutorials walk through the most common OpenWrt tasks: installing firmware, configuring the LuCI web interface, securing SSH and the firewall, segmenting networks with VLANs, setting up WireGuard VPNs, planning Wi-Fi channels, and running background services such as SQM. Each guide includes the relevant UCI commands so you can replicate the steps over SSH.
How the guides are written
Every tutorial is tested against a current OpenWrt stable release. Where the procedure differs between hardware platforms or driver families, the guide calls out the variation. The goal is steps that work on the first try, not a reference that leaves you guessing.
Why OpenWrt?
OpenWrt turns a commodity router into a Linux system you can configure, extend and secure. It supports hundreds of devices, ships a real package manager, and gives you fine-grained control over the firewall, network and services. The stock firmware on most routers locks you out of all of that.
Open source
WRT Studio is built with Nuxt, Vue and TypeScript. The project itself is open source; the tutorials are written to be accurate and updated as OpenWrt evolves.
Limitations
OpenWrt supports a wide range of hardware, and some steps differ between devices. Always check the device-specific wiki page on the OpenWrt website before flashing. Tutorials on WRT Studio cover the common path; your device may need a variation.
